Mavs attempt to rebound at home vs. Clippers
Basketball Betting Lines
03/23/2010 -
(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Dallas Mavericks are caught in a funk, but have a
strong shot at bouncing back tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers at
American Airlines Center.
Dallas has dropped two straight and three of four games since a 13-game
winning streak, and recently sustained a 115-99 setback at New Orleans on
Monday. Jason Terry recorded 24 points off the bench, Dirk Nowitzki added 16
and Shawn Marion tallied 14 points for the Southwest-leading Mavericks, who
are 3 1/2 games ahead of San Antonio in the division and one game behind
Denver for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
"The Hornets took advantage of the forced turnovers they created. I just have
to give credit to a good team," Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle said. "They drop
five in a row and came here tonight ready to play."
Carlisle's squad surrendered 35 points off 20 turnovers, while Caron Butler
distributed 12 points in defeat. Marion entered the game averaging 16.4
points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in his previous eight contests.
The Mavericks are 24-11 at home this season.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles is in the midst of a 10-game road losing streak and has
dropped 14 of its last 15 games as the guest. It is a miserable 7-28 on the
road this season.
The Clippers have a tough task on their hands tonight, and enter this contest
losers in nine of their last 10 games overall. In a 102-89 loss versus
Sacramento on Sunday, Eric Gordon had a team-best 23 points and Baron Davis
contributed 13 points and five rebounds in defeat.
"That was a poor game by us," Clippers head coach Kim Hughes said. "Half of
our team didn't get their wakeup call today. They played harder than we did. I
told our guys I was disappointed in our effort."
Chris Kaman chipped in 12 points and nine boards for Los Angeles.
Dallas defeated the Clippers, 93-84, earlier this season at Staples Center
behind Nowitzki's 24 points and nine rebounds. The Mavericks have won four in
a row and 21 of the past 28 matchups in the series.
LA is winless in its last six visits to Big D.
