Giants sign S Chad Jones

East Rutherford, NJ (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The New York Giants have signed
safety Chad Jones, their third round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-3, 218-pound Jones played in 40 games over three seasons at LSU,
starting 19 times, including all 13 games as a junior in 2009.
He led the team with three interceptions and was fifth on the team with 74
tackles last season. Jones finished his career with 158 stops and five
interceptions.
Jones also returned 31 punts, including one for a touchdown, and seven
kickoffs during his career.
The Baton Rouge, LA native was a member of the Tigers national championship
football team in 2007, as well as being a part of the LSU baseball national
title team in 2009.
He joined teammate Jared Mitchell as the only two players in college history
to claim a BCS national title and baseball national title.
The Houston Astros selected Jones in the 13th round of the 2007 Major League
Draft and he was recently chosen in the 50th round of the 2010 First Year
Player Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.
New York waived kicker Sam Swank to make room for Jones on the 80-man roster.

Huskers' Lucky hospitalized for undisclosed reason
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky was hospitalized Monday for undisclosed reasons after Lincoln police responded to a call at his residence.
The Nebraska athletic department said in a release Monday that Lucky was admitted Sunday night.

A nursing supervisor at the hospital said all questions about Lucky were being referred to the athletic department. The athletic department said there would be no further comment from the department or Lucky's family.
A Lincoln Police spokesman said officers responded to a call at Lucky's residence 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The spokesman said he didn't know Lucky's condition at the time he was taken to the hospital.
Lucky, from North Hollywood, Calif., started six games last season as a sophomore and was the team's second-leading rusher, with 728 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 32 passes for 383 yards. He averaged 19.1 yards on eight kickoff returns.
