Garnett to miss 2-3 weeks
Basketball Betting Lines
02/21/2009 -
Boston, MA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Celtics forward Kevin Garnett will miss the next
2-3 weeks due to a posterior muscle strain of his right knee.
Garnett returned to Boston for evaluation on his strained right knee and was
originally only slated to miss the final three games of the reigning NBA
champions' six-game West Coast road trip.
He was evaluated by Dr. Brian McKeon on Friday and the expected outcome was
the result -- a muscle strain in the right knee with a 2-to-3 week recovery
time.
Garnett was taken to the locker room with just over one minute left in the
second quarter of Thursday's 90-85 loss to Utah after injuring his right leg
while leaping for a dunk and did not return.
"The Big Ticket" was jumping for an alley-oop from Paul Pierce and came down
awkwardly on the leg. Garnett immediately limped off the floor and was
subsequently helped into the locker room.
Garnett was initially scheduled to be examined Saturday, but instead he was
checked out upon landing in Boston Friday night.
In 53 games this season, Garnett is averaging 16.3 points and 8.8 rebounds.
